I am from Mount Airy, Georgia, and have been in Buford since 2010 and have worked at Buford City Schools since 2014. I graduated from the University of Georgia with a degree in education. I have my Master’s from Brenau University and my Specialist degree from Valdosta State University. I have been in education for 17 years, which is the most rewarding job. My family and I go to church at Gwinnett Church. I enjoy cooking, reading, hiking, and game night.
Q: Please tell us a little bit about your family.
I’m married to Shane Wood, and have three children Payton, Abby, and Graham.
Q: Please tell us about your current, past, or future career. What do you love most about what you do?
I currently serve as the Career and Technical Education Director for Buford City Schools. Until last year, I taught Nutrition and Food Science for fifteen years. I love supporting the CTE teachers and helping give our students relevant college and career experiences and certifications.
Q: What are a couple of your favorite restaurants in our community?
Rico’s World Kitchen is my favorite restaurant.
Q: How long have you lived or worked in our community?
My family and I moved to Buford in 2010.
Q: Who is the most interesting person you’ve met here in our community?
The most interesting people I’ve met in Buford are Bonnie Davis and Sula Gower. They have stories for days about Buford and it’s rich traditions.
Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be and why?
If I could travel anywhere today, it would be to the mountains to a cabin with a fireplace and a beautiful view.
Q: What is one of your favorite movies? TV shows?
My favorite movie of all time is “Steel Magnolias” because it shows the strength and grace of women.
Q: What advice would you give to people?
Always be the hardest worker in the room.

To go to Paris

Q: If you could choose anyone that is alive today and not a relative; with whom would you love to have lunch? Why? And where locally would y’all meet for this lunch?
I would want to eat lunch with my high school video teacher, Mrs. Vinson. She was the best teacher ever, and we would eat at Rico’s.
Q: What is your favorite thing or something unique about our community?
One of my favorite Buford traditions is the Homecoming Parade.

Q: What is the most beautiful place you have ever been?
The back porch of my brothers cabin with a cup of coffee in hand with family.
Q: Favorite month? favorite holiday? and best single day on the calendar?
Christmas and Thanksgiving because of all the time with family and friends and all the delicious food.
Q: Who inspires you to be better?
My children. I want them to see Shane and I working hard as unto Christ.

lavender and cinnamon

Home is where my family is.
