My name is Truett Adams. I am 23 years old and live on the border between Buford and Flowery Branch. I graduated from Buford High School in 2015 and have been involved with Buford in some shape or form since 2006. During my time at Buford as a student, I was involved in extracurricular activities such as Baseball, Tennis, and Chorus. I am the son of Trent and Julie Adams. Both of my parents are educators, and my dad is an employee and coach for Buford City Schools and has been since 2006. For work, I currently work part time while also pursuing a Master’s degree in education at the University of North Georgia. With my Master’s degree I plan to pursue a career as a middle grades Social Studies teacher.

Q: Please tell us a little bit about your family.
I come from a family of four. Both of my parents are educators, and my sister and I are currently in the works of becoming educators ourselves.

Q: Please tell us about your current, past, or future career. What do you love most about what you do?
I am currently pursuing a Master’s degree in the art of teaching at the University of North Georgia and aspire to be a middle grades Social Studies teacher. In the past, I have gotten a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration-Marketing and briefly worked in real estate, insurance sales, and corporate retail marketing.

Q: What are a couple of your favorite restaurants in our community?
Buford certainly has plenty of options for great food, but my new favorite place is Over the Top Burger off of Buford Hwy.

Q: How long have you lived or worked in our community?
I have been a part of the Buford community in some shape or form for going on 14 years.

Q: Who is the most interesting person you’ve met here in our community?
If I had to pick one person who had significant impact on my time at Buford, it would be Sean Gilbert at Buford High School. While I didn’t play football in high school and did not have Coach Gilbert as a sports coach, I did have the pleasure of having him as a teacher. Looking back, Coach Gilbert was easily one of the most professional and passionate teachers I ever had at Buford.

Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be and why?
If I could travel anywhere I would pick Bora Bora. Who wouldn’t want to relax in arguably the most beautiful place on Earth?

Q: What is one of your favorite movies? TV shows?
Favorite movie is a tough call but right now I’m going to say Forrest Gump. Favorite TV show has got to be LOST.

I would like to see all of the states in the USA.

Q: What is your go to band when you cant decide what to listen to?
Red Hot Chili Peppers

Q: What current or former local business makes you the most nostalgic about our community?
It is no longer in Buford and has actually been gone for a while, but I would say Rick Tanner’s Bar and Grill. That place always had the best chicken tenders and was the spot to go to after a game or event.

Q: If you could choose anyone that is alive today and not a relative; with whom would you love to have lunch? Why? And where locally would y’all meet for this lunch?
I’d pick my old college roommate and high school friend, Hayden Ingram. We’d meet up and have a meal and watch a game at somewhere like Diesel Taphouse or Over the Top Burgers.

Q: What is your favorite thing or something unique about our community?
Buford is unique in that it has its own identity like no other community that built on family and excellence.

Q: Where do you see yourself in 5 to 10 years?
I’d like to see myself teaching at a nice school such as Buford Middle or Buford Senior Academy.
