My name is Caleb Williams. I grew up in Beaver, PA and lived there until I graduated High School. I went to College at Wooster in Ohio and then moved to the great state of Georgia. It is hot but I love it! I was blessed with a long career in Powerlifting, beginning at the age of 12 and was able to travel the world competing. After 12 years, I retired and began Olympic Weightlifting. I was able to travel the world and compete with my wife Kelly for many years. We have 2 amazing boys, Rex is 17 and Levi is 6.
Q: Please tell us a little bit about your family.
My wife Kelly is our rock! She also competed in Olympic Weightlifting at the International level for years. She loves Jesus and our family. Our oldest son, Rex, is 17 and a senior at Buford High School. He has played football for Buford for the past 7 years and also competes in Powerlifting. Our youngest, Levi, is 6 years old. He is in Kindergarten at Buford and loves to explore the outdoors, play baseball and is like the energizer bunny…the kid doesn’t stop!
Q: Please tell us about your current, past, or future career. What do you love most about what you do?
My current, past and future career are the same. My wife and I own and operate Peak Strength and Fitness and Peak-GATA along with our partner Ryan Goldin here in Buford. We are blessed to be in our 18th year of business. The thing I love most is interacting with and making a difference in students lives. Being able to make a positive change in their performance on the field but to also see that change pour over in to every aspect of their lives and change their trajectory forever is what this is all about.
Q: What are a couple of your favorite restaurants in our community?
There are so many great restaurants here and more that I still need to try! You can’t go wrong with Bravo. Barebones is our go to for an amazing steak. If we’re in a hurry we will grab some Taco Guy or hit the Chevron next to the high school…if you know, you know
Q: How long have you lived or worked in our community?
We have been here in the Buford Community for the past 15 years.
Q: Who is the most interesting person you’ve met here in our community?
This is tough! The Buford community is filled with amazing people! When we first moved here in to the community, Marty Gildemeyer believed in our mission as a business, as people and was a mentor to us early on. We will be forever grateful for him and his family. Plus they are fun and interesting as well!
Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be and why?
We love to travel! Right now, I would go somewhere not as hot! But I love Europe…I haven’t done Italy, Spain and that whole area. We were just talking about hiking the trail along the coast there which would be incredible
Q: What is one of your favorite movies? TV shows?
We don’t watch a ton of TV and when we do it is usually something for the boys. I love sports movies and I love the Olympics, so Miracle is one of my favorites. I think the last TV show Kelly and I watched was Peeky Blinders, that was good. As a family, we usually watch Expedition Unknown or Coyote Peterson
Q: What advice would you give to people?
Great things happen over time, whether it be in the gym, on the field, or in life. Be patient, keep God first and work hard.
Q: What is something on your bucket list?
Kill an elk! a bunch of them. I’ve tried the past 3 years but I’m empty handed so far.
Q: What is your go to band when you can’t decide what to listen to?
Honestly I don’t listen to music a lot on my own. My family loves music so we have it on at home and it’s always playing at the gym so when I am driving, etc it is usually silence or a podcast.
Q: What current or former local business makes you the most nostalgic about our community?
We try to shop local and support small businesses as much as we can, just like so many do for us. This year, with our son being a senior Sports Connection is nostalgic getting letterman jackets and all that!
Q: If you could choose anyone that is alive today and not a relative; with whom would you love to have lunch? Why? And where locally would y’all meet for this lunch?
I would eat with Cam Haynes or Steve Rinella and pick their brains on how to become a better elk hunter and be more successful in the mountains haha! We would have to eat at Rico’s for sure.
Q: What is your favorite thing or something unique about our community?
I love how the Buford Community rallies. We rally around sports, events, but more importantly rally around people. When someone is in need, this community steps up and takes care of people.
Q: Where do you see yourself in 5 to 10 years?
Older, but still doing what I love. Spending time with my family and training athletes!
Q: (Even for friends or family), what is something interesting that most people don’t know about you?
I enjoy woodworking and learned from my dad. I have also won 14 National Championship Titles between Powerlifting and Olympic Weightlifting
Q: What is the most beautiful place you have ever been?
Switzerland, in the Alps, is incredible! I love the mountains so even being out west up in the mountains is something I see in my head every day!
Q: Favorite month? favorite holiday? and best single day on the calendar?
Thanksgiving is pretty great, got to love the food! I’m not sure I have a favorite day or month. I love the weather of spring and fall, and fall brings hunting season as well.
Q: What would you rate a 10 out of 10?
Early morning stillness. Time with the fam. Being off the grid
Q: Who inspires you to be better?
My wife outworks everyone, she makes me and everyone around her better. I try to live a life and lead by example to her, my boys and all of our clients
Q: What is one or two of your favorite smells?
My family will get a kick out of this question. I smell everything…how else are you supposed to identify some unidentified objects?? I love to smell the outdoors and fresh air! And some of Kelly’s home cooking!
Q: Finally, what 3 words or phrases come to mind when you think of the word HOME?
Family, Fun, Heaven
